What Silicon Slag Is
Silicon slag is what comes out of the bottom of the furnace when we melt silicon metal. Its a by product, dark grey to black, hard granules and lump, density round about 2.0 to 2.5 g/cm3 and it does not give way until well past 1500 C.
We have been selling it to mills for deoxidation and slag work for years. Honest word first: its not ferro silicon. If your grade sheet watches silicon closely, buy FeSi and use this as an auxiliary, not as the main addition.

How Mills Add It
Dosed late in the blow, or at the tap stream, it reacts with the dissolved oxygen and the SiO2 that forms joins the slag. Slags that carry it flow better, so the inclusions have an easier time rising out. Foundries take the finer fraction as return material instead of paying alloy prices for the same job.
On price it usually lands well under FeSi and manganese iron, which is the whole reason people trial it on ordinary carbon steel and secondary melting heats.
Packing
1 MT jumbo bags as standard, 25 kg bags if your plant handles small sacks, or loose in the container when you are buying a full load. Keep the stack covered, damp slag cakes up and screens choke.

FAQ
Q: Can I run it instead of FeSi75?
A: Not where the silicon residual matters. For rough deoxidation on mild grades youve seen mills cut their alloy bill this way, for killed and alloy steel keep the FeSi.

A: Yes, 1 kg from the current stock, freight collect, and you get the same analysis sheet we ship with the container.
