Product Overview

Silicon Manganese Alloy (SiMn) is a core composite alloy material for steel smelting. It is smelted from manganese, silicon, iron and trace elements such as carbon, phosphorus and sulfur, presenting as silvery-gray block solid. As one of the most widely used basic ferroalloys in the steelmaking industry, it has multiple functions of deoxidation, desulfurization and alloying. With high cost performance and stable performance, it is an essential raw material for the production of carbon steel, alloy steel and special steel, and is widely used in steel smelting, mechanical casting, metallurgical processing and other industries.

Product Features

1.Excellent deoxidation efficiency: The synergistic deoxidation of silicon and manganese enables deoxidation products to float and separate easily, ensuring high purity of molten steel and reducing steel impurity defects.

2. Strong desulfurization and modification capacity: It can combine with sulfur in molten steel to eliminate hot brittleness of steel and improve steel processability.

3.Stable alloying effect: It effectively improves the strength, toughness, hardness and hardenability of steel, and optimizes the comprehensive mechanical properties of steel.

4.Wide adaptability and low loss: It has low burning loss and mild reaction during smelting, compatible with various steelmaking and casting processes.

Main Applications

As an indispensable basic raw material in the metallurgical industry, silicon manganese alloy is mainly used for smelting various steels, including carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, rebar, steel plates and profiles. In the steelmaking process, it is mainly used as a composite deoxidizer, desulfurizer and alloying additive to improve molten steel quality and stabilize steel performance. Meanwhile, it serves as the production raw material for medium and low carbon ferromanganese and manganese metal, and can also be used for inoculation modification of mechanical castings to enhance compactness and wear resistance of castings.
