Ferrosilicon Manganese, SiMn Alloy

Silicon Manganese Alloy (SiMn / FeSiMn) is a dual-function ferroalloy that delivers simultaneous deoxidation and manganese alloying in one feeding step. The Si17Mn65 grade contains approximately 65% manganese and 17% silicon, offering higher alloying efficiency than standard Mn60Si14 grade. It effectively replaces separate addition of ferrosilicon and high-carbon ferromanganese, reducing overall alloy cost and simplifying steelmaking process.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between Si17Mn65 and standard Mn60Si14? A: Si17Mn65 contains higher manganese (65% vs 60%) and higher silicon (17% vs 14%), providing stronger alloying capacity per ton. It is preferred for medium-high strength steel production where higher Mn content is required.

Q: What is the manganese recovery rate in converter steelmaking? A: Under normal BOF tapping process, manganese recovery rate is typically 75%–85%, varying with tapping temperature, oxygen activity and slag condition. Silicon content directly improves Mn recovery.

Q: Do you supply low-phosphorus grade? A: Yes. We can produce low-phosphorus SiMn (P ≤ 0.15%) for high-grade steel production upon request, with corresponding price adjustment.
