High Quality Silicon Carbide SiC 90

People hear silicon carbide and picture the near pure material we grind into precision parts. Most of what actually moves by the container load is not that. Silicon carbide 90 is what a refractory plant buys: it still carries around ninety percent SiC, but it also carries a little iron oxide and free carbon, and those two are the reason the price per tonne sits well below the 98 grade. If your job can live with them, this is where the savings are.

Refractory makers are the biggest buyer. Mixed into a brick or a castable, it shrugs off slag and holds its shape while the vessel is white hot, so a lining lasts longer between relines. Steel plants take the same material as a deoxidiser and as a carbon top up wherever the spec is not tight. There is an abrasive trade too, though for fine grinding most shops step up to a cleaner grade. In short, this is a workhorse, not a precision material.

We crush and screen it to order. Most of it goes out as 0-5 mm or 3-10 mm, but if your process wants a different cut, say so and we set the screen to match. Bags are 1 MT jumbo as standard, or 25 kg where a smaller unit suits the shop. Each lot is analysed before it ships, so the COA carries the same batch number as the bag, and lead time runs about 7 to 10 days.
