Silicon Metal 553 for Aluminum Alloys
We produce Silicon Metal 553 at our Henan smelting facility using a carbothermic reduction process that combines high-purity quartz with carbon reductants in submerged arc furnaces. As a direct smelter with over 14 years of experience, Weve been supplying silicon metal to clients including Baosteel and other major steel and aluminum producers across China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
The name 553 comes from the maximum impurity limits - 0.50% Fe, 0.50% Al, and 0.30% Ca - and its become a standard workhorse for aluminum alloy producers worldwide. Our silicon metal offers uniform melting speed and strong deoxidization, making it ideal for a wide range of applications from aluminum casting to steelmaking and silicone production.

Grade 553 is what most aluminum casting operations use for grain refining and alloying additions. It does the job at an econoimcal price point that makes sense for bulk production. When a foundry needs tighter impurity control - say for aerospace-grade alloys or high-end extrusion billets - they typically step up to 441 or 3303. For chemical-grade applications that feed into silicones and sealants, we can supply up to 1101 with strict trace element control.
