High Purity Silicon Metal 553

Silicon metal, some people call it crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, is reduced in an arc furnace out of quartzite and coke. The silicon sits around 98 percent, the balance being iron, aluminium and calcium. It looks like dark grey chunks with a blue tint, hard and brittle, melting point 1410-1420 C, density 2.33-2.34 g/cm3.

553 is the standing grade at our works. 441, 421, 3303 and 2202 we run on order.

553 and 441 mostly go into aluminium alloy work - they lift strength, fluidity and corrosion resistance in cast parts, and roughly six out of ten tons leaving here end up in that business. 421 is the chemical side, for silicone and organic silicon, where the aluminium to calcium ratio is held tight. When a buyer pushes on to high purity silicon articles they ask for 3303.

1 MT jumbo bags as standard, 25 kg bags if your plant handles better with them, wooden pallets on request. Loading is Qingdao or Tianjin, FOB CIF CFR all work. After the PO one container is usually ready in 7-10 days.
