High Carbon Silicon Si50C20 for Steelmaking

We produce high carbon silicon (also called Si-C alloy or high carbon silicon) at our Henan facility by processing high-purity carbon powder, silicon carbide powder, and metal silicon powder through a specialized process. It replaces traditional ferro silicon, silicon carbide, and carbon raiser in converter and electric furnace steelmaking.

We offer 3 grades:

Si55C15 for high-grade carbon steel and alloy steel. Si50C15 for general carbon steel grades like Q195, Q235, HRB335, HRB400. Si40C18 for cost-sensitive applications where higher carbon content is needed.

In the converter, silicon reacts with oxygen in molten steel to form SiO₂ slag, removing dissolved oxygen while carbon dissolves into the steel to improve strength and hardness. The slag collection effect helps oxides clump together for easy removal, giving cleaner steel with better density. One feed supplies both silicon and carbon, reducing the number of alloy types needed at the furnace.

It also improves steel fluidity through strong deoxidation and desulfurization, reducing nozzle clogging during casting. Compared to adding FeSi and recarburizer separately, high carbon silicon is more economical - it can reduce alloy consumption by 20-30% and lower production costs by 5-10%.

Available in lump, granule, ball, or powder form. Granularity: 10-50mm or 10-100mm for converter use, or custom sizes on request. Si and C recovery rate exceeds 95%. Each batch is tested for composition. Weve supplying mills across Asia, Africa, and South America since 2010.
