Silicon Slag
We produce silicon slag at our smelting facility as a co-product of silicon metal and ferrosilicon production. Instead of treating it as waste, we process it into a cost-effective deoxidizer for the steel industry. Our slag typically contains 45-65% silicon in various compound forms, making it a practical alternative to fresh ferrosilicon for many steelmaking applications.
We grade it by silicon content and particle size:

SS45 is our entry-level grade for basic carbon steel deoxidation where cost is the primary concern. It gets the job done without the premium you would pay for higher-grade materials. SS55 offers a balanced silicon content that works well for medium-carbon and low-alloy steel production. SS65 comes closest to ferrosilicon in performance and is what we typically recommend for quality steel grades where consistent results matter most.
After the slag separates from the molten metal by density difference, we crush it, remove iron particles through magnetic separation, and screen it to the required size range. Every batch goes through XRF analysis, and we issue a Certificate of Analysis with each shipment.
Its main use is as a deoxidizer in EAF and BOF steelmaking. The exothermic reaction helps maintain bath temperature while it removes oxygen, which gives it an advantage over some alternatives. It also works well in ladle refining as a partial replacement for ferrosilicon, helping mills manage raw material costs without compromising on steel quality.
