1. Improper aluminum, phosphorus and calcium content in ferrosilicon will all contribute to powdering of ferrosilicon. When the aluminum and phosphorus contents increase to a certain value at the same time, this kind of ferrosilicon is prone to pulverization in air with high humidity. The phosphorus content in ferrosilicon is less than 0.04%, and the aluminum content is less than 3%, so it is not easy to pulverize. .
2. Our factory has observed and studied the silicon content of ferrosilicon and the powdering phenomenon of ferrosilicon. It is initially believed that ferrosilicon with low silicon content (mostly waste products) tends to be easily powdered. The reason may be due to silicon. The temperature of silicon and iron compounds such as FeSi and FeSi2 in iron decreases and the volume expands, causing ferrosilicon to powder. Ferrosilicon containing aluminum forms aluminum hydroxide and generates gas when it meets water, which is the main reason for the powdering of ferrosilicon.
3. The cooling rate after pouring also affects the powdering of ferrosilicon. The cooling speed of ferrosilicon is fast and the segregation degree of silicon is small, so it is not easy to pulverize; the cooling speed is slow and the segregation degree of silicon is large, pulverization is easy to occur. In the same way, the thickness of ferrosilicon ingot is thicker and pulverization is easy to occur. It is not easy to cause powdering when it is thin.
